Common questions.

Does Aegis store my data in the cloud?
No. All data is stored exclusively on your device, encrypted with your master password. No servers, no accounts, no internet required.
What happens if I forget my master password?
There is no recovery option by design — nobody can access your data without it. You can reset the app, which clears all data and lets you start fresh.
Can I transfer my vault to a new phone?
Yes. Use the Backup feature to export your encrypted vault, share it to your new device, and import it using the same password.
What is Emergency Mode?
A coercion protection feature. When active, the app appears to work normally but blocks all real data access. Only a secret tap sequence you configure can disable it.
Is the one-time payment per platform?
The free and pro versions are separate apps. Each platform (Android/iOS) has its own purchase — this is standard for paid apps on the App Store and Google Play.
What is the Digital Testament?
A feature that lets you configure a posthumous password and generate a PDF for trusted beneficiaries, giving them read-only access to your credentials after your passing.

Privacy policy

My commitment

Aegis was designed with a single principle: your data belongs to you, and only to you. The app works entirely offline and never transmits any information to external servers.

Data I do NOT collect

  • Passwords, PINs or any credential you store
  • Bank card numbers or financial information
  • Personal identifiable information
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data
  • Device identifiers
  • Location data

Data stored on your device

All data you enter is encrypted with AES-256-CBC using a key derived exclusively from your master password via PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 (100,000 iterations). This encrypted data is stored locally in a SQLite database on your device. It is never uploaded, synced or transmitted anywhere.

Biometric data

When you enable fingerprint or Face ID access, your master password is stored in your device's secure enclave (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). Aegis never handles raw biometric data — all biometric processing is done by the operating system.

Ads (Free version only)

The free version of Aegis displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect anonymized data as described in Google's privacy policy. The Pro version contains no ads and no third-party SDKs that collect data.

Backups

When you create a backup, the resulting file is encrypted before it leaves the app. You are responsible for where you store or share this file. Aegis does not upload backups anywhere.
